TESTIMONY

M.E. can be very debilitating but it can also make sufferers fight, adapt and learn to live with the condition. Every month we will be publishing a testimony on this page from an M.E. sufferer about how they, in particular from a Christian perspective, have managed to push on and seek God in the midst of their hardships. We hope that they encourage you and help build up your faith. This month - November - we have an amazing testimony to the power of faith in a God that heals and that is certain to give your faith a lift and your hope a boost as you continue to look to God for your own healing. Enjoy! Alison's Story ‘Through many dangers toils and snares I have already come...’ Its been nearly 20yrs since ME interrupted my energetic social life .A qualified PE/dance teacher/Teacher of the deaf, mother of 2 lovely boys and wife of a PE teacher. I’d already given up teaching to look after the boys, as I had previously lost 2 babies and wanted to make sure I would really enjoy my time now. So what more could I now want? My life complete. Certainly not a chronic illness which nobody understood or believed I really had. Tired exhausted, must be unfit, older mother etc, we are all familiar with the patter. So where is the good news....
‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far`...20 years of stories is too much to
cover but God intervened as people began to pray for me, although a non
Christian I was desperate for anything! I had sought alternative healing which
temporarily relieved some symptoms but it was eventually the healing grace of
Jesus that made the difference. I asked him into my life and from then on sought
Christian healing as and when Over the years I have and
continue to receive healing in my body, mind, emotions and spirit. Its not been
easy, the `toils and snares’ have been due to other illnesses, a painful
marriage break and divorce, the demands of bringing up 2 teenage boys, moving
house etc but my Father God has brought me through, as I sought him daily,
struggled to trust him and obey him {he really does know best}. Today the
journey continues, I’m not climbing mountains, but walking daily with my new
Christian husband, whom God really did send (another story). We are helpers in a
weekly Alpha group, attending a healing course to learn how to pray for others,
having holidays! Wonderful! I rely on God to give me the
strength I need, to do whatever he puts across my path. We still have our houses
to sort (the decision to get married etc took enough energy). My elder son is
now married, the other at university and elderly parents all of which need help
and support at times. No I’m not fully recovered, healing has taken time and
continues .20 years of learning to trust and doing things God’s way has
brought new life, new hope, new beginnings. ‘I once was lost but now I’m
found, was blind but now I see’ I trust for all who read this that your
heavenly Father will do the same for you.
We hope and pray that Alison's testimony has encouraged you. Due to popular demand, previous testimonies are now available online Click Here to read them. Another testimony will appear next month but we'd like to take this opportunity to ask for more of you to send yours in. It doesn't have to be a healing testimony. It can be how you find the strength in God to continue, lessons you've learned through your suffering or some way in which God has spoken to you through it all. We would also be particularly interested in the testimonies of carers, how have you coped looking after someone with M.E./FMS? We would love to hear from you. You can send them direct to webmaster@hopeforme.info. Thank You |
